Stethoscope Practicals

All students attending Medlink will be provided with a free stethoscope, an essential clinical tool that is fully equipped to conduct patient examinations at Medical School and beyond.

In preparation for the supervised practical sessions, during which students will use their stethoscopes for examination, there will be in-depth training in the operation and use of the stethoscope with a full explanation of the role of auscultation in the art and science of making a diagnosis.

The practical (with ‘real’ people) are supported and augmented by the free Medlink CD. Using a computerised 3D virtual patient on the CD, students will have the opportunity to test and retest their diagnostic skills. The CD is designed for students to use their stethoscopes with the programme, providing the opportunity to hear and diagnose a wide range of cardiac and lung sounds using their stethoscopes.
